10/24/2026: Jilly May is the only pup left that is looking for her new family. She is completely off wet food and has not nursed on mom in two/three weeks. Feeding time still takes place on the lanai. We do catch her nibbling on mom/dad's food and I redirect her to outside and bring her food. She has been downsized to a crate. Jilly is in the crate during work days and night time. She even takes naps in the crate during the weekend on her own. When she's ready for bed, you'll know it! She's like the toddler fighting sleep time - rolling around whining. There are still accidents in the house, but only urine. She's really good about using the dog door and pooping outside. Jilly even makes it to the grass (which is really nice for me). First vet visit has been taken care of. She rec'd DAPP, Dewormer, and Bordetella. She also given a chewy for flea and heartworm. She weighed in at 11 lbs. Jilly is the smallest out of the litter. Note: Jilly is not the name she has to have, its a habit on my end. New owners will receive shot records, a blanket that has mommy scent for easier transition, and 6 lb bag of dry food to get you started. (Plus a goodie bag) Puppy was born on August 28, 2026. Parents are on-site and live together. Sire: Ody is AKC, NAPR, & ACA registered he will be 2 years old on September 30. He is lemon/white. Dam: Daisy May is ICA & NAPR registered and will be 2 in April. She is tri-colored. Both parents are up to date with vaccines, heartworm medication, and flea/ticks’ medication. Puppies will come with paperwork for International Canine Association and North American Purebred Registry. 10/4/2026: Puppies have mastered the doggy door with mom and dad. They are eating a combo of wet/dry dog food twice a day and drinking water. All meals take place outside on the lanai for easy transition to the grass for potty time. Play toys have upgraded to one with a hard surface for teething. We've introduced puppy teething treats which are a big hit. Mom has started to sleep in her own space without the puppies, but visits for an overnight feeding. 10/10/2026: Mom is no longer sleeping with the pups, she stays in her kennel. Continuing with feeding wet/dry food twice a day. Took advance of the weather and they played for a long time outside. They even took a nap out on the grass! Most of them walk through the dog door out to the back lanai for potty breaks. Granted they don't go the the grass, but its a start. Playtime is much louder - they know how to use their voices. Drinking water has increased.

Frequently Asked Questions
About Basset Hound Puppies

Is a Basset Hound the right dog for me?
Basset Hounds look bummed on the outside, but have a wonderfully clever personality on the inside. They use their adorable, pouty looks to get away with whatever they want and will make you laugh daily with their outrageous sense of humor. Basset Hounds love people and other animals, so be prepared to spend lots of time together. Full-grown, they typically weigh 40-65 pounds and stand 12-15 inches tall.
Are Basset Hounds friendly with strangers and kids?
Basset Hounds are generally excellent with children of all ages. If you don’t want a dog with an incredibly loud voice howling constantly, the Basset Hound need to be in a situation they can live inside with you. They love people, other dogs, cats, and children alike. They're fairly vocal dogs that bark regularly.
Are Basset Hounds high-energy dogs?
Basset Hounds like to go on long walks, but their favorite activity is following their nose wherever it may take them. Basset Hounds have an incredibly strong sense of smell, which makes them great competitors in tracking sports. They were born to hunt for as long as you’ll let them, so you generally won’t ever entirely wear them out. Overall, their exercise needs are moderate.
What should I expect with Basset Hound shedding?
Although the Basset Hound’s coat is very short, it does require daily brushing. Their hair sheds heavily, and if you want to reduce the amount you find around your house, these daily brushings will help. Some people think the Basset Hound’s oily coat gives off a bad smell, but that can be helped with regular baths. Grooming-wise, this breed is moderate.
What kind of home is best for a Basset Hound?
Basset Hounds are best suited for a house with a good-sized yard. If you don’t want a dog with an incredibly loud voice howling constantly, the Basset Hound need to be in a situation they can live inside with you. They also love to play outside and will follow any interesting scents they come across, so a home with a big backyard or a farmhouse is a good bet for a happy Basset Hound. They are moderately trainable with consistent effort.
