Loki is one of our puppies from the beginning! He is now an adult! He is a lot of dog, and was a lot of puppy, which his previous home specifically wanted. He unfortunately was returned to us when they had a child and the child became afraid of him for being the dog he is. Loki is what we would consider “extra”. He does more than he needs to. He does grumble chat over things he has in his possession or thinks are his, which can be scary for a child. He has had zero problems giving us any of these items, but it isn’t a great behavior around children and we do not fault his previous family for returning him.
Loki DOES know basic training (his previous home did enroll him), but he has the mind of a poodle vs a doodle and he either has to be told vs asked or have a reward for doing it. He is working on his manners here and the understanding that he can’t get absolutely everything that he wants… and has seen some improvement. That being said, he is a sweet dog, he likes attention, but he would do best in a home with people that wouldn’t let him push them around.
We do not feel comfortable placing him with children.
He DOES get along well with other dogs, but insecure dogs, or dogs that don’t like pushy dogs, would not like him at all. He’s boisterous, can be quite loud at times when he wants things, and genuinely just has a big personality. He loves scratchies and playing keep away and fetch (when he can give up his ball).
He is very food motivated (we have been working on slimming him down) and looooves the ball (… we are also working on him dropping said ball so we can throw it again lol), so he is trainable in those ways as well.
Loki is neutered already, crate trained, rides well in the car, and does good for grooming. We are working on his leash manners as he does pull.
We are more than willing to wait for the right home for him, as he is a more difficult placement, but we are more than happy to have meet and greets with anyone interested. Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions!
