How do I use the Message Center?

Messages ·

The Message Center is the main way for buyers and sellers to talk to each other on Puppies.com. Designed with a familiar, easy-to-use interface similar to modern messaging apps, it helps you securely manage your conversations and find the perfect match.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: Keep Your Conversations On-Platform

While sellers may occasionally provide a phone number, email address, or website in their public profiles or listings, we strongly recommend keeping initial communication inside the Puppies.com Message Center.

  1. Testimonial Eligibility: To protect the platform's integrity, buyers can only leave a testimonial for a seller if both parties have an established message-and-reply history inside the Message Center prior to the purchase or deposit date.

  2. Safety & Security: Communicating on-platform provides a secure paper trail and shields you from off-platform scams, allowing our Support Team to assist you if any issues arise.

How to Access the Message Center:

You can access your inbox across all your devices using these navigation paths:

  • Desktop / Laptop Browser: Click the Envelope icon at the top of the page, or select MenuMessage Center.

  • Mobile Web Browser: Tap the Menu icon in the upper-right corner, then tap Message Center right below it.

  • Official iOS & Android Apps: Tap the Messages icon located in the bottom navigation bar of the app.

For sellers, the Message Center is context-driven to help manage high volumes of inquiries cleanly.

How Sellers Navigate and Reply:

Navigating Your Inbox

  • The Folder Tabs: At the top of your message view, you'll see your folders. On the iOS App, these are labeled Conversations and Archived. On Mobile Web and the Android App, they are labeled Inbox and Archived.

  • The View Layout: Desktop views feature a side-by-side layout, while mobile versions utilize a streamlined single-column view.

  • Sorting Hierarchy: Messages are organized by context. If a buyer inquired through a specific puppy post, you will see a card for that Listing first. Clicking that listing expands into a list of the different Buyers who messaged you about that specific pup. Selecting a buyer's name takes you into your individual Conversation Thread.

  • Direct Profile Messages: If a buyer contacts you directly from your Breeder Profile rather than a puppy post, the context shifts to the individual—the Buyer’s Name will appear in your top-level list in place of a listing card.

Sending a Reply & Attaching Media

Once inside an active conversation thread, type your response into the text field at the very bottom of the screen.

  • To send a text reply, click or tap the Arrow icon to the right of the text box.

  • To attach photos or video clips, look to the left of the text field. On Desktop, Laptop, and Mobile Browsers, click the Paperclip icon. On the iOS and Android Apps, tap the Camera icon.

For buyers, the navigation layout is simplified since you are tracking individual inquiries rather than sorting multiple incoming buyers.

How Buyers Navigate and Reply:

  • Reviewing Your Outbox: Your inbox displays a direct list of the Listings you have actively inquired about. Clicking a listing card bypasses secondary menus and drops you directly into your ongoing 1-on-1 conversation with that specific seller.

  • Direct Profile Inquiries: If you reached out to a breeder directly through their main profile page instead of an active advertisement, the Seller’s Name will stand in place of the listing card in your inbox list.

Handling New Message Notifications

When you receive a new message, Puppies.com will send a notification alert (either as an email, a text message, or a push notification, depending on the preferences you set up).

  • Do Not Reply to the Notification: These notifications are sent from an automated system. Replying directly to the notification will not reach the other user.

  • The Safest Way to Respond: To avoid login friction caused by tracking links opening in restricted in-app mobile email browsers (like Gmail or Apple Mail container previews), do not rely on email links. Instead, simply open your standard standalone device browser, navigate to Puppies.com, or launch your official mobile app to securely access your Message Center inbox and send your reply.
