Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) protects your account by asking for a 6-digit security code whenever you log in from a new device or session. If your code is not arriving or the website is rejecting it, follow these steps to get back into your account.
1. What to Do If Your Code Isn't Arriving
-
Check your email folders: If you requested your code by email, check your Spam, Junk, and Promotions folders. Add
[email protected]and[email protected]to your email contact list to ensure future messages reach your inbox. -
Try a different delivery method (Text, Call, or Email): You can receive codes through a text message, a phone call, or an email. If the login screen is stuck on one method and won't let you pick another:
-
Sign out of Puppies.com.
-
Close and restart your web browser completely.
-
Open a Private or Incognito browser window.
-
Go to Puppies.com and try logging in again. This forces a fresh session so you can select a different method to receive a code.
-
-
Check your phone number: Make sure your phone number is correct and up-to-date. If an old, outdated number is on file, contact our Support Team for assistance.
-
Wait a moment before retrying: Mobile networks and email services can occasionally experience slight delivery delays. Avoid clicking "Resend" repeatedly right away.
2. What to Do If the Site Rejects Your Code
-
Use the newest code only: Every time you click "Resend," all previous codes are canceled immediately. Only the single most recent 6-digit code sent to your phone or email will work.
-
Check the 10-minute expiration: Each code is valid for 10 minutes. If more than 10 minutes have passed, click "Resend" once for a new code.
-
Use the Mobile Notification Banner Trick: If you are using a smartphone, switching away from your browser to open your Text Messages or Email app can cause the Puppies.com login page to refresh automatically, which cancels the code you just requested.
-
How to fix this: Watch the top notification banner of your phone screen when the code arrives. Read or copy the 6-digit code directly from the pop-up banner without leaving your browser tab.
-
-
Type the code manually: Web browsers and password tools often try to auto-fill saved passwords into the 6-digit box by mistake. Clear the box and manually type the 6 numbers.
3. Avoiding Constant Login Prompts
-
Turn off VPNs and location maskers: Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) mask your internet connection. This causes our security system to view you as a "new device" every time you visit, prompting you for a 2FA code on every sign-in. Disable your VPN while using Puppies.com to stay recognized.
-
Clear old browser data: If the login page loops continuously, clear your browser's cache and cookies, or use an Incognito/Private browsing window to complete your sign-in.
4. What If Your Phone Number Has Changed or Is Outdated?
-
If you are currently locked out: You cannot update your phone number directly from the 2FA login popup. Click the Contact Support link at the bottom of the verification box. Our support team will verify your account details and unverify the old number so you can enter your new phone number the next time you sign in.
-
If you are already logged into your account: Go to your Verifications page, locate Phone Verification, and click Change. This removes the outdated number and prompts you to verify your new one.
Alternative Security Option:
If you regularly have trouble receiving text messages or emails, you can also set up an Authenticator App (such as Google Authenticator or Authy) under your account security settings to generate sign-in codes directly on your device.
